Well, hello June! I hope you’re enjoying the start of the summery season.
It’s been a busy few months here. Alan and I surprised Evelyne for her birthday this weekend with a flower “cake” from her sweet 8-month baby Ollie, complete with pink candles. I did food styling for the Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Ball on April 18th and my favorite review was by Amanda Gordon from Bloomberg who noted the “oohs and aahs as the lobster tails landed on the buffet tables.” Also enjoyed this little video of the scene.I love working with Jee of Blush Designs and the weather was perfect on April 20th for an outdoor ceremony in Liberty State Park. A little windy for our cherry blossom arrangements, but all was well.May 6th was The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala to celebrate their new exhibit PUNK: Chaos to Couture, (open until August 14th). I managed the production in the dining room and Before and After pictures are below of the entrance in the Great Hall and dinner in the Charles Engelhard Court strung with 13,000 lights and set for over 800 guests.Design and production were managed by Raul Avila with countless colorful anemones on the dining tables and American & British flag floral walls lining the Grand Staircase.Glorious Food fed me a caviar first course to revive me and created “punk” desserts for the crowd while Kanye West and Debbie Harry performed. And yes, those are jello shots!Then it was right into the PULSE Contemporary Art Fair at Metropolitan Pavilion with curated catering from the local, artisanal food vendors of Hester Street Fair:

I especially liked the paintings by Franco Mondini-Ruiz and 3D-printed sculptures by Guillaume Lachapelle.And then: Shanna and I went to see the cherry blossoms at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, dozens of Korean American Adoptees came to NYC for a meet-up that lasted days and in which we consumed many Korean food calories and much soju, and my sister Emily graduated from the Drexel University College of Medicine and is now a DOCTOR! Of course I brought her favorite: pink peonies.The evening event for Gap on June 6th was outdoors and raining, but the sunflower arrangements were still shining brightly. I hope they cheered everyone!I’ve so been enjoying working with Laura Clare Floral Design and Event Decor and this past weekend we did 2 weddings: one at the Liberty House Restaurant in Jersey City (middle row below) and the other at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden (top and bottom rows below).Phew, lots of stuff. There was still time last week to do a pink peony, rose and tulip arrangement for a friend’s sister’s graduation. During a calm lunch in May I got this advice in my fortune cookie:and a couple hours later got an offer to work on events in Shanghai for 10 days. So, there’s a lot to come here in the next few months: possibilities in Long Island, New Jersey, Los Angeles and Miami. Stay tuned!
